A (very adventurous) group of scouts took on a 2 night hike in the mountains along the Laurel Highlands trail. Weeks of preparation went into the hike. Scouts were taught about using proper winter weather gear and attire, how to pack properly for multi-day hikes, and how to cook meals and purify water. Unfortunately, due to the unexpected 6 inches of snow on the ground, the scouts were not able to reach their end destination and had to end the hike a little earlier than expected. Still, they got some great experience preparing for, hiking, and camping in the winter weather.
