North Park Orienteering Course

Orienteering is an important skill that scouts learn during their tenure with the Troop.  It is also required for some of the rank advancements.  Unfortunately, with the proliferation of mobile devices, GPS, and Google/Apple maps most kids are unfamiliar with understanding maps and how to navigate without an electronic device.

Today, the scouts attended an orientation course held at Munnell Run farm organized and run by the Western Pennsylvania Orienteering Club.  The farm is about 45 minutes away a few miles north of Grove City Outlets and Rt 80. This township demonstration farm is a 163-acre working farm and a non-profit agriculture and ecology education center. For our purposes, it has an orienteering course that is open to the public!   The Novice Course is just under 1.5 miles.
