Cherry Springs State Park, located in Potter County, Pennsylvania, is a premier Gold-Level International Dark Sky Park. Sitting at a 2,300-foot elevation, its remote location atop the Allegheny Plateau offers unparalleled, 360-degree views of the Milky Way and up to 10,000 stars.
The scouts spent the weekend at this memorable camp site. During the day, the scouts got a tour of a neighboring camp site where hundreds of amateur and pro astronomers had set up their telescopes, cameras, and other astronomy viewing gear, all set up for a weekend star party. This also help them fulfil requirements for their astronomy merit badge.
At night, the scouts were treated to a spectacular view of the milky way and other star formations.
